On Saturday, July 11, Play N Trades across North America hosted round one of the Red Faction Guerrilla International Tournament. Win or lose, everyone involved had a good time.
“I liked the fact that even beginners could be a part of this tournament,” said Tyler Jones, a participant at the San Mateo, Calif. Play N Trade. “Even people who had no experience with Red Faction Guerrilla could pick up a controller and be pretty good at it, which made it a lot of fun.”
Misty Megia, owner of the San Mateo, Calif. Play N Trade, said the tournament was a great success. “Overall, we’ve always had really great turnouts at all our tournaments here,” said Megia. “At this tournament, all the people involved were so supportive of each other, people were shaking hands afterwards. Also, the game was so popular. People loved being able to destroy the surroundings on the game and people were playing the game for another two hours after the tournament ended.”
Winners of the local rounds will move on to the national round July 18 and international round July 19. Prizes include a $500 Play N Trade gift card and a life-sized hammer, which is a key weapon in Red Faction Guerrilla.
